What does authority mean in human design?

Human design authority is certainly not about what someone else tells you to do. No one has authority over you other than yourself.
Your human design authority is here to support you in making good decisions – like an inner GPS that is unique to you. Decisions can be anything from what to have for breakfast to what job to accept and who to be in a relationship with.
Despite what we have been taught, we are intended to make decisions by listening to our bodies instead of our heads. Your human design authority tells you exactly where in your body to tune into so you can make the best decisions for you.
Bottom line: Your decisions are an embodied experience. They are not “logical” because logic lives only in your mind.

As someone with mental authority, you make decisions based on observing the world around you and mining it for clues about the right course of action.
You are razor sharp. You are also super open to what is happening in your environment. Be discerning with your thoughts so you know which ones are guiding you towards what is true for you and which ones are pulling you away from your inner knowing.
If you struggle to make a decision, changing your environment can be helpful. You need to be in supportive places and with supportive people to get in touch with your inner guidance.
You are very observant and have clearly defined points of view. Make sure to lead yourself from your innate genius and inner knowing. You make the best decisions from your own empowered thoughts.
It can be helpful to speak your thoughts out loud by sharing them with other people. You are doing this for the sake of getting clarity for yourself. You do not need answers or feedback from the other person so make sure you to explain this ahead of your sharing.
Something feels right for you when you get the sense of the penny dropping or clarity clicking into place from the myriad options and possibilities swirling around in the universe.
